Cultural Learning, Free Play & Collaborative Building
As part of a trio of pilot activities led by Nexon Foundation in partnership with World Share and SOHO Impact we created opportunities that fostered essential 21st century skills through cultural learning, creative play and collaborative building.
The events included large-scale builds of cultural monuments as well as free play with children in the community. In Cambodia we worked with local children building the iconic Angkor Wat, in Myanmar children worked together to build the Shwedagon Pagoda, and in Nepal children recreated through brick play the Boudhanath Stupa and a mosaic of the Himalayan mountain range. Many of these children had never seen these cultural icons and it was a great way for them to understand and be connected to such important cultural cornerstones while learning key skills.
